Music loving, couch potatoes listen up! Today the 2010 Channel O Music Video Awards go LIVE for the very first time.
That’s right. Thursday 4 November at 21:00 CAT is when the fireworks begin in a show that’s non-stop five-star entertainment, from start to glittering end – all at the touch of a television remote control!
We’re proud to say that the 2010 Channel O Music Video Awards are the only awards ceremony that keep the focus entirely where it should be: on African music, on African artists, on African entertainers, on African stars!
In executing this, some of Africa ’s most talented artists and creatives are on board to deliver viewers all over the continent a night to remember.
Co-hosts, actor-presenter Lungile Radu and actor-comedian Thomas Gumede, will keep the action and jokes flowing whilst TKZee member and all-round multi-talent, Zwai Bala – who is assisting the production team with musical direction on several performances - has cooked up a musical show that puts the very best African music in the spotlight.
Liquideep. Black Coffee with special featured artist Zakes Bantwini. DJ Tira. Teargas. Kwela Tebza. Thembi Seete. Dama Do Bling. Wyre. Buffalo Souljah. Sasha. D-Black & Kwaku-T – these are just some of the musical acts that will be on stage at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg , South Africa on Thursday 4 November.
Adding to the glitz and glamour are a head-spinning array of guest presenters including Channel O VJ, Kabelo "KB" Ngakane along with Top Mais presenter Weza, 100% Naija's Tana, O-Access’ Dineo Moeketsi and SK of Mzanzi Ridez. IK of Big Brother Africa-fame will also be on hand to give out statuettes to the winners.
And the action doesn’t end when the final award is handed out. As part of Channel O’s promise to turn the Biggest Night in Music into the Biggest Night on TV, the channel has secured two exclusive music video debuts straight after the live event broadcast ends. These come from two of Africa ’s biggest breakout hip-hop stars - Khuli Chana and Kwesta. Hip-hop and Motswako kingpin Khuli Chana will be debuting the hot new video for “Konka”. The song is the latest single to be pulled off his acclaimed album The MotswakOriginator which sees Khuli working with some of the hottest producers in the game including TowdeeMac, IV League, Don Juan and PH. Kwesta’s “Flava” is the second Channel O exclusive music video debuting straight after the awards broadcast on Thursday 4 November.
Also on Sunday 7 November at 19:00 EAT see the 2010 Channel O Music Video Awards Red Carpet special being aired to showcase who wore what, who was with whom and much, much more! Followed by a re-broadcast of the 2010 Channel O Music Video Awards ceremony at 19:30 EAT.
