'Nyerere's brand revisited'

Hello,
This week's  article, 'Nyerere's brand revisited', published in www.magavilla.com is quite close to my heart and may also prove to be my most divisive piece thus far.
Without being too preemptive of the article; some argue that Nyerere's leadership acumen is overrated because Tanzania was an easier country to govern then and I guess on that premise even the efforts of today to govern can be written off because surely those who come after us in hindsight could take the same view.
This is, in essence, the core theme and the underpinning argument in support of building a strong Nyerere brand - a country that does not value it's past, I dare say, will never be secure in its present.
